Install Windows Automated Installation Kit For Windows Vista SP1

Microsoft Corp. had released the software called Microsoft Windows Automated Installation Kit (WAIK) which can be downloaded free of charge from its website. This software can help you to install, customize and deploy Microsoft Windows operating systems in many computers. It is very suitable to use in the enterprise such as university that has a lot quantity of computers.

I WILL COVER IN MORE DETAILS LATER ABOUT HOW TO USE MICROSOFT WAIK TO DEPLOY WINDOWS VISTA SP1 INTO MANY COMPUTERS IN YOUR ENTERPRISE. 

Technically, you can use Microsoft WAIK to create an answer file for unattended Windows installation, create Windows PE bootable CD and capture Windows image using imageX. 
 
Note:
Unattended Windows installation
is an installation that can be performed with minimal user intervention. It means, most activities by user during installation such as setting up the time and date, language settings, computer name, disk partition size etc. can be performed automatically. These settings actually can be automated using answer files.
 



What You Need

  1. Microsoft WAIK for Windows Vista SP1. This software must be installed into your system (technician computer). Click Here To Download.

    Note:
    If you want to deploy Windows Vista SP1 into both of your reference computer and destination computers, you need to install Microsoft WAIK for Windows Vista SP1.


  2. Daemon Tools Lite. Click Here To Download.



Before The Procedures

  1. I assume that you had downloaded both of Microsoft WAIK’s image file (*.ISO) and Daemon Tools Lite into your computer.

  2. Please follow this procedure in order to extract the contents of image file for Microsoft WAIK into your computer’s hard disk.

  3. Please make sure your Windows Vista system have .NET framework, MSXML 6.0 and Service Pack 1 installed.



The Procedures

At this stage you have the original contents of Microsoft WAIK software in your hard disk. So, we will start to install the Microsoft WAIK into your system (technician computer).

  1. Double click to open the folder that contains Microsoft WAIK files’ program –-> double click icon startcd –-> click Continue

  2. You will be presented with the interface below.

  3. Click Windows AIK Setup –-> the Windows Automated Installation Kit’s interface appears like below

  4. Click button Next –-> agree the license term of program by click the radio button Capture –-> click button Next –-> click button Next –-> click button Next –-> wait the installation process running.

  5. Click button Close when installation process complete.
